Getting your trailer license should be easy—that’s why we offer a streamlined course at our trailer school, featuring just one theory evening and three 2-hour driving sessions with a car and trailer, culminating in a practical test with the Danish Road Traffic Authority.

How it works

Day 1 – Theory Evening

• You attend a single theory session where we cover all the necessary statutory information, ensuring you are well-prepared for the practical part.

• Remember, there is no theory test for the B/E license—so no need to stress about that.

• During the theory session, we also handle the administrative details so your application can be approved.

(We recommend getting your medical certificate sorted out before the course starts to speed up the process).

Week 2–3 – Driving Lessons

• We schedule driving lessons individually to align with your driving test date.

• During the lessons, you will practice driving in traffic, reversing around corners, and reversing in a straight line; you will also learn how to hitch and unhitch a trailer.

• If, contrary to expectations, you need additional driving lessons, we will arrange to fit those in as well.

Final Step – Practical Test

Before the driving test

Coupling and uncoupling:

• You must demonstrate that you can correctly couple and uncouple the trailer to the vehicle.

Vehicle check:

• You must show that the vehicle combination is road-legal. This includes checking the brakes, tires, lights, etc. — all of which will be covered during the course.

During the driving test

Practical skills:

• You must demonstrate safe driving with a trailer in traffic.

Manoeuvres:

• You must perform specific manoeuvres, such as reversing around a corner and similar tasks.

Duration:

• The practical test typically lasts between 25 and 45 minutes.

What is the trailer license (Category B/E) used for?

The “trailer license” allows you to tow a trailer weighing up to 3,500 kg. This includes caravans, horse trailers, boat trailers, and specialized trailers used by professionals—such as mobile generators, high-pressure cleaners, and a wide range of similar towed vehicles.
